About the Site

The Yournotme site has been running since 2001. A simple site that allows you to find out how many people in the UK have a certain first name, last name or full name. We also added a fuzzy search not long after the site was launched which allowed you to search for parts of a name. e.g *bum*. This obviously made searching for names containing profanity possible and made for some most amusing results.

History

The site launched with little fanfare and would have gone pretty much un-noticed on the internet until the site B3TA published the address in their news letter. Things went a bit nuts after that.

One of the first things people pointed out about the site was the name. Who would have known there were so many anal retentive people in the world that were allowed access to the internet. The problem people pointed out with the name was that it should be You're Not Me and not Your Not Me. When the domain name was first registered it was supposed to be You R Not Me, however almost all people just read Your Not Me instead which has kind of stuck. It does annoy some people though, which we think is fantastic.

Squirrels Rule

Fuzzy wildcard searches will be implemented as soon as we've managed to persuade the angry squirrels to do the work. We may use a bar of Fruit and Nut for leverage!
